Real Alligator

Shinyribs’ 10th full-length record, Real Alligator, picks up the path Kevin Russell started on 2025’s Leaving Time, folding soulful country and folk into the band’s signature Swamp Pop sound.

With several songs written by Russell as solo compositions, the album carries a more personal, introspective feel than earlier Shinyribs releases. At the same time, the group has evolved into a smaller, more flexible band, just as comfortable with quiet detail as they are with the punch of Arkansas Mud.

Real Alligator is also the first Shinyribs album on Austin’s non-profit label Spaceflight Records, joining a catalog that includes Toadies, The Black Angels, and Heartless Bastards.
