Ritornare

Enzo Favata’s Atlantico quintet sits in a beautiful space where jazz, chamber music and improvisation meet. It’s music with freedom and direction in equal measure, shaped by deep roots in Southern Italy and the wider Mediterranean, and alive with colour, detail and conversation.

Led by Sardinian saxophonist and clarinettist Enzo Favata, with long-time collaborator Marcello Peghin on guitar, plus bandoneonist Daniel Di Bonaventura, double bassist Salvatore Maltana and drummer UT Gandhi, Ritornare is Favata’s first ECM recording.

Inspired by Atlantic cultural crossings and the writing of Gabriel García Márquez and Jorge Luis Borges, the album moves with a dream-like flow. Recorded in Munich in January 2026 and produced by Manfred Eicher, it’s a richly acoustic set where melody, memory and imagination are constantly shifting shape.
