J. Madden (also of Hooton Tennis Club and Hank Bee) releases Rum Baba, the hotly awaited follow-up to 2021 homegrown debut record Same Day As Yesterday.

This bittersweet collection of songs probes life’s big themes - existential uncertainty, depression and living within an increasingly digitalised world and its consequences - yet is delivered with a joyous sound and a sense of humour.

“One day I realised I had a record without planning it,” explains Madden. “For me, these songs capture two turning points in my life: moving from the city to a small seaside town, and shifting from my 20s to my 30s.” Rum Baba is a sonic leap from Madden’s debut, presenting his fullest songs to date.
