Sentimental Ultra

Sentimental Ultra marks DJ Heartstring’s debut proper on Steel City Dance Discs, and their first album project. Starting life as a mixtape before a happy accident or two took it down a different path, this 15-track album finds the pair chasing not just peak-time euphoria and what they can conjure in a club setting, but everything around it too.

The befores and afters. The soft and the supercharged. What life felt like when they were young. Featuring collaborations with SWIM, Spriitzz, BAUGRUPPE90, Sam Gellaitry, Saidah, DMA’S, KennyHoopla, Monk, 3NDLES5, David Jackson and a secret act, it folds indie rock, rap, ambient and breakbeat into their sound.

This blend of worlds is central to the album’s visual concept too, blurring hard and soft with inspiration from football hooliganism and skateboarding subcultures. The cover was shot by British photographer Ewen Spencer, known for his work around Skins, The Streets and more.
