The score for the 1974 action-thriller Shatter was composed by David Lindup,
serving as a standout, Blaxploitation-style soundtrack that blends funky library music, wah-wah guitars, and Quincy Jones-style jazz elements.
The main theme is a lively, brass-heavy pastiche of 1970s funk and soul, heavily
inspired by Isaac Hayes’ iconic Shaft theme. In the final 1974 theatrical release, much of Lindup's acclaimed score was buried underneath the movie's heavy action sound effects.
For decades, the Shatter soundtrack was never commercially released in any form.
However, as part of Hammer's modern revival and restoration efforts, the original clean cues have been released for collectors.
