Soft Side

On their new album Soft Side, Feldspar strike a balance between the urgency of hardcore and the catchier structures of rock 'n' roll and American pop. Soft Side was recorded in New Jersey and produced by Jon Markson (The Story So Far, One Step Closer) and Alan Day (Four Year Strong). Across its ten tracks, ‘Soft Side’ tackles themes such as addiction, community, intimacy, family expectations, and the idea of finding success on one’s own terms. It offers no definitive answers; instead, it favors companionship, reflection, and the search for meaning amidst uncertainty. 

Formed in Rome 2023, Feldspar takes its name from a mineral traditionally worn by roman clergy members traveling incognito—an ironic detail, given how the band channels its creative spirit into themes of spirituality, mental health, and identity. The project was founded by Riccardo Zamurri and Stefano Casanica, a songwriter and producer with extensive experience (Undertakers, Craiving, Crude, and Noyz Narcos’ cult album Non Dormire). Their collaboration defines a distinctive blend of alternative textures, post-hardcore tension, and layered songwriting. Zamurri serves as frontman and lead vocalist, shaping the group’s lyrical and visual universe. Alongside him, guitarist Andrew Mecoli (Growing Concern) brings a raw yet melodic approach rooted in the hardcore tradition.  

The vocal dimension is expanded by Gwen Mowat, whose incisiveness and London sensibility add a more defined, pop-leaning contrast, supported by backing vocals from Marianne Leone and Viviana Di Bari, which enrich the project’s dynamic range. The rhythm section features Manlio Massimetti (bass) and Luca Micheli (drums), whose precision underpins and structures Feldspar’s soundscape.
