Soldiers In The Clouds

While exploring the RSD vaults to compile and assemble our recent RSD LP release "Worldwide Dub", we came across an unreleased 2017 reggae recording by Joe Peng. As a reggae vocal, "Soldiers In The Clouds" wasn't something we could include on a dubstep dub album, but it was too good to ignore, so we asked if we could release it as a single. Joe Peng may be best known as a legendary MC or a member of Laid Blak, but he has been steeped in reggae since childhood and has recorded numerous reggae tracks over the years, many in collaboration with RSD. That experience and practice shine through in "Soldiers In the Clouds", a mature, fully formed yet beautiful anti-war song whose theme is unfortunately as relevant today as it was when it was recorded or at any time this century. "Sometimes I look into the sky and see soldiers in the clouds, and I think of all those men that died while fighting, oh so proud." With sparse, subtle backing produced by Rob Smith, the anti-war message is an iron fist wrapped in a velvet glove. The vocal is coupled with an RSD dub version, cut for extra weight
