After twelve years out of print, James Leg’s debut album Solitary Pleasure is finally back. It still hits like Howlin’ Wolf and Iggy Pop scrapping over a battered organ in a smoky dive, all grit, volume, and raw intent.

Leg’s voice tears through every track like sandpaper. If his old band the Black Diamond Heavies could shake the walls, this solo set goes deeper, rougher, and more soulful. The son of a preacher man also throws in wild horn parts just when you least expect them.

Now repressed on black vinyl, with an insert featuring lyrics and photos, this is a welcome return for anyone chasing the real thing.
