Scott Fagan finally brings Soon into the world, 55 years after first writing it with songwriting partner Joe Kookoolis. These songs began life as a 1971 Broadway rock opera, planned as the follow-up to Fagan’s 1968 debut, South Atlantic Blues.
The production, starring Fagan and a young Richard Gere, closed early and the album was shelved before it could be recorded. Now, cut over seven days in July 2025 at Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis, it finally gets its due.
Across 13 songs, Soon moves from the gospel lift of Let The World Begin Again to protest pieces Faces Names and Places and Straight, with tender turns in Child of Sympathy and To Touch the Sky. A long-lost set of songs well worth the wait.
