The deeply personal archive of the South Bronx’s own Ricky Flores, featuring an essay and commentary from New York Times editor David Gonzalez. This 11’’x 14’’ 400+ page hard cover is a signed and numbered limited edition of 500 with both black and white and full colour images Ricky Flores was born in New York to Puerto Rican parents in 1961 and started documenting life in the South Bronx in 1979 after he purchased a Pentax K1000 with a small inheritance from his father. It started a journey of self-discovery born out of photographing the lives of his friends and family during one of the most turbulent times in the history of the Bronx. He continued documenting the lives of the Black and Puerto Rican residents whose streets he shared during those days of social unrest, and the early days of hip hop culture.
