one half of mater suspiria vision, cosmotropia de xam has built a singular aesthetic which incorporates the visual and sonic extremes of the nascent 'witch house' scene. always the most far-reaching and musically daring, the msv collective continually play great hands and 'surrealistic pillows' is no different. in evidence here is long-form drones, loops which sound positively celestial and arpeggiated strings that wouldn't sound out of place on matt bowers' more lovely side or even in terry riley's garden of unearthly delights. easily one of the best phantasma disques to date.
