In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Agnes Lum's first visit to Japan, Masayoshi Takanaka's landmark debut single "Sweet Agnes" originally released in 1976, is being reissued as a 12-inch, 45 RPM colour vinyl edition. Featuring a faithfully reproduced jacket based on the original 7-inch release with its charming close-up portrait of Agnes Lum, the title track was written as the theme song for the short film "Taiyo no Koibito Agnes Lum," released in the summer of the same year.
The B-side, "Tokyo Reggie," features lyrics by Yukihiro Takahashi and was used in the same film. Sung by Takanaka himself, it is a standout city pop track originally included on his first album "Seychelles," a release that has gained remarkable international popularity in recent years.
Remastered and cut by Alex Wharton (ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS, London).
It is a perfect fusion number for the summer season.
