Dwight Yoakam developed a love for bluegrass music at an early age and for years has wanted to record an all bluegrass album. The songs for this album, his first for Sugar Hill, are new interpretations of classic Dwight songs and a very unique cover of Prince's "Purple Rain." The album also includes four of Dwight's past Billboard Top 100 Country tracks: "These Arms," "Gone," "Guitars, Cadillacs," and "Please Please Baby," all reimagined with a bluegrass treatment. Yoakam is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and film director, most famous for his pioneering country music. He has recorded more than twenty-one albums and compilations, charted more than thirty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and sold more than 25 million records. He has recorded five Billboard #1 albums, twelve gold albums, and nine platinum albums, including the triple platinum 'This Time'.
