A limited edition photo book of 1,000 numbered copies, Straight Strychnine gathers over 200 images of The Cramps shot by Youri Lenquette between 1980 and 1991. It traces the band from Montpellier in 1980 through their 1980s peak and into 1991, with rare access to their private world.
Lenquette captures Lux Interior, Poison Ivy, Bryan Gregory, Nick Knox, Kid Congo Powers, Slim Chance and Nickey Alexander in all their sleaze, glamour and menace, from the Psychedelic Jungle era to the Eldorado, Paris show in June 1984 and a full S&M drag shoot in 1987.
With a foreword by Lenny Kaye, introduction and text by Will Hodgkinson, plus writing from Pearl Harbour, Bobby Gillespie and Douglas Hart, this is the first dedicated photography book on one of rock’n’roll’s most influential cult bands.
