Fruits de Mer Records started life as a covers label 14 years ago and fairly early on they made friends with Crystal Jacqueline, Icarus Peel and their friends; The Honey Pot (one of their aliases) has become something of a house band for the label, turning their hands, voices and instruments to all manner of projects.
Now, under the collective name of The Hobbit House Collective, Jacqui, Icarus and co have put together four recordings, which spread out over four sides of vinyl. We start with two classic Page/Plant songs (the first time Led Zeppelin have found themselves mentioned on an FdM release - I bet they're suitably impressed), including a storming version of 'Battle Of Evermore', on which they were able to rope in legendary Curved Air violinist Darryl Way to add some searing flourishes.
Onto 'The Chain', the Fleetwood Mac song that became synonymous with Formula One racing, and Icarus Peel's Acid Reign forego the niceties of the original track's intro and head immediately for the home straight. And finally, an instrumental that could be the successor to 'The Chain' if the BBC ever regain the rights to broadcast the races.
