There are records that entertain, records that educate and records that become historical documents in their own right. For twenty years, Marc Mac’s Black History Soundbite Series has existed somewhere between all three.

Beginning in 2006 with It’s Right to Be Civil, Marc Mac quietly embarked on what has become one of the most original long-form projects in contemporary independent music. Conceived not simply as albums but as audio documentaries pressed onto vinyl, each release combines original production with carefully curated speeches, interviews, broadcasts and historical recordings, transforming fragments of Black history into immersive musical journeys.
