Gentle fluttering sounds cascade through the speakers spilling notes from guitars and strings while tremulous vocals croon and sweep.

James Yorkston’s latest album is produced by James himself alongside David (FKA Twigs / Caribou / Frank Ocean) Wrench. It was recorded in a loft in Cellardyke on instruments collected by James including dulcitones, harominiums, autoharps and (of course) a nyckelharpa.

Muted dreamy brass swims like a woozy half-awake hangover. Buzzing drone guitars trickle and play with a celtic flick while sweet close harmonies settle like a Scotch mist across bagpipes, slithering, stinging strings and sombre woodwind.
