The Runaway Found

The Veils’ first three albums return to vinyl via Rough Trade Records: The Runaway Found (2004), Nux Vomica (2006) and Sun Gangs (2009). These early records introduced the New Zealand band’s lush, romantic indie sound, rich with gothic orchestration, atmospheric drive and a real cinematic pull.

Founded and led by Finn Andrews while still a teenager, The Veils shaped something distinctive across these releases: deep and enveloping, but also emotionally raw and direct. They move easily between widescreen drama and close, intimate songwriting without losing their edge.

With only limited vinyl runs first time round, these represses offer a welcome chance to hear them again with the depth, fidelity and artwork the format brings. As Finn Andrews says, it is “a sincere joy” to see these “searching, impassioned, and magnificently youthful” records reissued.
