For six decades, Bernie Taupin has written songs woven into millions of lives. Best known for his partnership with Elton John, he’s also worked with Willie Nelson and Courtney Love, earning an Oscar, two Golden Globes, the Gershwin Prize, Hall of Fame inductions and the Grammys Trustee Award.

With The Sea Has No Mercy, his first solo album in nearly 40 years and his first without a co-writer, Taupin turns inward. Across 10 songs, he distils 75 years of experience into something reflective, vivid and deeply personal.

Recorded in Nashville with producer Frank Liddell and backing band The Tennessee Stone Cutters, the album features Brandi Carlile and introduces Georgey Taupin. Songs like Fisherman, The Sea Has No Mercy and One Hundred Ways lean into intimacy, in a sound Taupin calls atmospheric folk.
