The 40 tracks on this set not only contain John Lee Hooker s complete Vee-Jay output prior to 1962 but also arguably the best work of his career. While he would go on to celebrate a lengthy and successful career, including a late resurgence in popularity towards the end of the 20th century, tracks such as Boogie Chillun , Hobo Blues , Crawlin King Snake , Tupelo and Boom Boom remain timeless reminders of a Bluesman in his prime.
