Eddie Giles closed out his time at Shreveport’s Murco label with the self-written Ain’t Gonna Worry No More, a bluesy plodder that showed his feel for deep Southern soul. Tucked away on the flip was Tingling, a catchy, atmospheric cut written by Murco executive Dick Martin and Jimmy Johnson, whose group the Peermonts were also on the label.
His next release came from the same production team on Silver Fox, suggesting his management felt his Murco chapter had run its course. Original copies of Tingling are now firmly in rare soul’s big-money bracket.
From around the same period comes Eddie Giles’ take on a 40s Country song by Fred Rose, reworked as an excellent mid-tempo soul number. Unreleased at the time, it finally makes its vinyl debut here. Sparse instrumentation, strong performance, and plenty of charm.
