Treasure Isle Ska

This specially curated set rounds up some of the most treasured ska cuts produced by legendary Jamaican label owner Arthur “Duke” Reid. It is a sharp introduction to the sound of Treasure Isle, packed with energy, swing and style.

Jamaica had no shortage of great musicians at the time. Some came from jazz and dance bands in the island’s upmarket resorts, others through the Alpha Boys School band. Alongside them were singers emerging from talent shows and song contests. From that rich scene, ska bubbled up.

Duke Reid was perfectly placed to capture it, making some of the finest and most exciting ska records of the era. As Dean Rudland puts it: “We could fill this album several times over, but this solid ska, all-killer-no-filler collection is the perfect starting point.”
