Uma

Uma is the striking debut solo album from Gwen (Gwenllian Anthony), songwriter, bassist and multi-instrumentalist with pioneering Welsh trio Adwaith.

Written while touring Europe and finished in West Wales, it opens a bold new chapter for Gwenllian Anthony. Produced by Gwenllian Anthony and Steffan Pringle, with added creative collaboration from Tim Lewis of Coil and Spiritualized, the record moves between industrial electronics, alternative pop, art rock and experimental sound design.

Inspired by Kim Gordon, Björk, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Can, Nine Inch Nails, Tricky and Massive Attack, these ten emotionally charged songs balance hypnotic rhythms, distorted electronics, intimate melodies and real vulnerability. Performed entirely in Cymraeg, Uma feels rooted in Welsh culture while reaching far beyond it.
