ltm present a new volume in the ongoing compilation series auteur labels, here profiling releases on legendary manchester independent factory records during 1987. founded in late 1978, early factory releases were guided by the five original directors: tony wilson, alan erasmus, peter saville, martin hannett and rob gretton. by 1987 the label was riding high, scoring a huge international hit with true faith by new order, and with house music filling the haienda dancefloor - though not the label's own release schedule. meanwhile the happy mondays had yet to break through, while older groups such as a certain ratio, section 25 and the wake quietly departed. the 77 minute remastered cd features cover artwork by phill pennington (formerly of peter saville associates) along with several rare tracks, detailed liner notes by james nice, and archive images. it features tracks from new order, a certain ratio, durutti column, miaow, the wake, section 25, arthur baker, quando quango, biting tongues etc.
