new on rune grammafon. hailing from norway, jenny hval has a background in writing and performance while her music is poetic, sensual, challenging, dark and beautiful. 'viscera' is set in the body and the songs are stories of the flesh. some songs have a modern protagonist - an unknown and yet present i - whereas other songs detail the actual body's viscera on its journeys. the music for this record was composed and arranged as a result of improvisation and experiment. the result is a fascinating meditation on sexuality and the state of modern experimental pop music.
