Vive La Revolution

Recorded live in 1977 at the Paris Bataclan, this captures the final date of The Heartbreakers’ European year. It was taped by Marc Zermati of Skydog Records as the soundtrack to an unreleased film, and has been unavailable for a decade.

A year earlier, and 50 years ago this December, The Heartbreakers arrived in London to join the Sex Pistols on the Anarchy tour. They spent much of 1977 there, recording L.A.M.F. and securing their place as key figures in punk’s first wave.

This Paris show would be their last European date and their final gig as a band until the reunions. Jerry Nolan had already left, with The Clash’s Terry Chimes stepping in on drums. The performance was filmed for a movie that never surfaced; this is that soundtrack.
