A Short History Of Decay contains all the tragic elements of an unwritten Southern Gothic novel. It explores the revelations of a man coming to terms with personal shortcomings, flaws, and the perverse twists of fate that led him to the end of one journey and the beginning of another.

The CD version of the album comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes a small poster, as well as lyrics and a photo. The LP version also includes an inner sleeve with lyrics and a photo.
