The tenor sax hero’s classic 1964 album, Album Name, is his fourth Blue Note LP. It was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on 29th August 1962.
This album was recorded just two days after his classic album Go, and features the same personnel: Artist Name on piano, Butch Warren on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums.
Artist Name showcases two great Gordon originals, "Soy Califa" and "McSplivens", along with Warren’s "The Backbone" and two standards, "You Stepped Out Of A Dream" and "Don’t Explain", as well as "Until The Real Thing Comes Along".
The album was produced by Blue Note co-founder Alfred Lion and includes session photography by Blue Note co-founder Francis Wolff, as well as liner notes by Barbara Long.
