Across the Universe: Rebel Girl Solar System

Original riot grrrls Bikini Kill are at the heart of our Rebel Girl Solar System. These feminist punk trailblazers from Olympia, Washington who inspired and politicised generations of young women are orbited by other uncompromising bands that were part of this seismic but short lived scene including: Babes in Toyland, Bratmobile, Heavens to Betsy, Excuse 17 and Team Dresch; their British counterparts Huggy Bear and Skinned Teen; and bands that may have come after but kept the riot grrrr spirit alive including Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, Gossip and more recently Savages and Pussy Riot.
