For the uninitiated, spending time with Bob Bert is a history class in alternative New York culture. Ask Bob about any cool band, and he probably has a wildly entertaining story! The Heartbreakers with Richard Hell at Max's Kansas City, Bob was there. Swans at CBGB's 1982, Bob was there. Don Cherry at Ali's Alley, Bob was there. Zappa and The Mothers of Invention at the Fillmore East, Bob was there. Einstürzende Neubauten at the Cat Club … you get the gist.

Bob Bert has been involved in the New York visual arts and underground music communities since the late 70s. His book, I'm Just The Drummer: My Time Behind Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Chrome Cranks, and BB Gun Magazine (Hozac Books) is a testament to his interconnectedness. He is one of the key figures that bridged the gap between No Wave and Noise Rock, forging a drumming style completely his own; as comfortable playing oil cans and sheet metal from the junkyard as he is a full drum kit.

Beach Bongo Bloodbath is Bob Bert's first true solo record; a record like you've never heard before. Listening from start to finish is like catching a DJ playing twisted versions of songs with broken turntables in the most unusual club you've ever stepped foot in. Yet, you can't help but groove. Beach Bongo Bloodbath (Bert), fits perfectly alongside Mississippi Queen (Mountain), Pablo Picasso (Modern Lovers), Oink Oink (David Peel) and Four Enclosed Walls/Banging The Door (PiL).

A longtime friend and fixture of Hoboken's Maxwell scene, it's only right Bar/None release Beach Bongo Bloodbath during its 40th Anniversary!
