For decades, Barbara Moore’s music has been quietly woven into British pop culture, even if her name isn’t. This Ace compilation, assembled by Bob Stanley and Mark Goodall with the blessing of Moore’s estate, finally brings together the key moments from her remarkable career.

A composer, arranger, vocalist and pianist, Barbara Moore worked across jazz, pop, easy listening and library music, breaking ground in a largely male world. Her 1972 de Wolfe LP Vocal Shades and Tones remains a library music classic, alongside her work on Vocal Patterns and Moonshade.

Expect familiar gems including At The Sign Of The Swinging Cymbal, The Saint, Bedazzled with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, and Just Like That, Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 theme. Barbara Moore died in August 2021 aged 89; this set makes a strong case for her long-overdue acclaim.
