Ruby of Thanks is the songwriting and home-recording project of Hudson Valley musician Andy Weaver, a fourth-generation New Yorker, house painter, and drummer whose work has included Widowspeak, Castanets, Wildflower, and Andre Ethier. Here, he leans into intimate, handmade songs rooted in everyday life.

Before You Turn Into A Dog is the project’s second full-length album, split between solo home recordings in Kingston, where Weaver played every instrument, and sessions with friends in Cairo and Catskill. Several tracks keep their first full performances, holding onto ideas in the moment they arrived.

That approach gives Before You Turn Into A Dog its quiet pull: songs about love, depression, work, and finding peace. With warm acoustic guitars and understated melodies, Weaver lets honesty lead. Fans of Little Wings, John Andrews and the Yawns, and Hand Habits will find plenty to sit with here.
