No Joy return with Big Life, Big Leaf, a three-track EP landing on a super limited 10" pressed on Rose Pedal vinyl and housed in a spot-varnished sleeve. It features three brand new tracks and follows last year’s widely acclaimed fifth album Bugland.
Named Best New Music by Pitchfork and nominated for Canada’s Polaris Prize, Bugland saw Jasamine White-Gluz team up with Warp signing Fire-Toolz. Here, they push that sound further with a bigger, brasher, bolder approach shaped by what Jasamine calls the “heavy but effervescent energy” of personal loss.
It opens with Barking at the Sun, blending shoegaze, ambient, L7-style grunge and a touch of nu-metal, with scratching from DJ Diego Juarez. The title track is a Ray Of Light-style summertime banger co-written with Jorge Elbrecht, while Süki & Amadeus closes things out sounding like ten songs in one.
