Acclaimed singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist Ry Cooder continued his movement towards R&B, but added an extra touch of the American Southwest with Bop Til You Drop's successor Borderline. The 1980 release, and Cooder's ninth studio album, kept a primarily electric sound and included terrific finds like the Tex-Mex-flavoured The Girls from Texas a cover of Billy 'The Kid' Emerson's 'Crazy Bout an Automobile and Cooder's take on Wilson Pickett's 1966 hit 634-5789..
