Athena, born in London but raised in Greece, has created an almighty stir with her live performances at festivals like WOMAD and a smattering of radio appearances.

The overwhelming response allowed her to embark on a recent high-profile tour without an official record release or a record deal, which is highly uncommon in 21st century Britain. Athena is indeed a rara avis.

This debut release, produced by Greek composer George Andreou and Joe Boyd (Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, Pink Floyd), perfectly illustrates her captivating talents.

Drawing on jazz, folk, contemporary, and classical music, the songs that occupy Breathe with Me are as intimate and sensual as the title suggests.

Fans of Norah Jones will delight in coolly delivered, heartfelt ballads like "Green Eyes" and "To Be with You", while mellifluous compositions like the Nick Drake-esque "Recently Scarred" and the haunting "Inside Out" are just as alluring.
