After the breakthrough of their debut, The Mission pushed their sound further on Children, a grand, emotionally charged second album built on soaring melodies, dramatic atmosphere and real arena-scale ambition.
Released in 1987, The Mission brought in Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones to produce, with engineering from Mark 'Spike' Stent. The album reached #2 in the UK and included the #12 hit Tower of Strength, followed by Beyond the Pale.
Children helped cement The Mission as one of the key bands of their generation, and it still stands as a defining record of the late-'80s gothic and alternative rock scene.
