Crack Magazine is a UK music platform that started in 2009 as a DIY newspaper for music obsessives. Sixteen years later, Crack remains a vital voice, spotlighting music's most essential artists.

Crack Magazine’s June issue is fronted by kwn, the Walthamstow-born R&B artist whose contemporary take on the genre has captivated audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. Following the breakout success of her 2025 remix of worst behaviour featuring Kehlani, the release of a major-label EP, and the announcement of its forthcoming follow-up, the 26-year-old singer-producer has found herself on a rapid ascent through the highs and lows of the fame machine. “I’ve learned a lot about myself within the past year,” kwn tells Crack’s Amel Muktar in this in-depth cover story.

Also in this issue: Copenhagen punks Iceage discuss their intense new album; we tell the inside story of seminal Asian underground club night Swaraj ahead of its return; and experimental artist James Leyland Kirby reflects on the unlikely viral afterlife of his The Caretaker project in a rare interview. Plus: the definitive guide to Japan’s ongaku kissa (listening cafés and bars), and Crack’s picks of the best releases from off the beaten track.
