Crack Magazine began in 2009 as a DIY newspaper for music obsessives, and 16 years on it remains a vital voice, championing essential artists and ideas.

The August issue is fronted by Alewya, one of the UK’s most compelling and elusive artists. Born in Saudi Arabia to Ethiopian and Egyptian parents and raised in west London, she brings those worlds into the fearless, genre-defying debut album ZERO.

Inside, Dr Louisa Toxværd Munch talks politics and power, while This Is Lorelai’s Nate Amos reflects on artistic growth, imposter syndrome and bluegrass. There’s also a feature on female, queer and non-binary producers reshaping dubstep, plus Evilgiane, Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat and new release picks.
