The full UK and US versions of the album Liquid Gold feature the top 10 hits "Dance Yourself Dizzy" and "Substitute" in 7”, 12” and instrumental form. The album also includes further singles such as ‘Anyway You Do It’, ‘Mr. Groovy’, ‘The Night, The Wine And The Roses’, ‘Don’t Panic’, ‘One Of Us Fell In Love’, ‘Where Did We Go Wrong’, and ‘What’s She Got’.
Additionally, the album features 7th Heaven and Yomanda remixes of ‘Dance Yourself Dizzy’ and Ellie Hope solo recordings including ‘Lucky’, ‘Shake’, and ‘Don’t Feel Sorry’. After being discovered by producer Adrian Baker in 1978, Liquid Gold narrowly missed the Top 40 with their debut single ‘Anyway You Do It’. The club-friendly flip-side, ‘My Baby’s Baby’, was favored by US DJs, propelling the song to number five on the Billboard Dance Charts.
Building on their success, 1980 was a stellar year for the group with hits like ‘Dance Yourself Dizzy’, which reached number two on the U.K. charts, followed by ‘Substitute’ and ‘The Night, The Wine And The Roses’. Their self-titled album also made the Top 40. In the early 80s, Liquid Gold continued to see chart success with songs like the 1981 Song For Europe entry ‘Don’t Panic’ and the melancholy ‘Where Did We Go Wrong’.
Lead singer Ellie Hope released a solo single in 1983 titled ‘Lucky’. Despite disbanding in 1984, their signature hit ‘Dance Yourself Dizzy’ found new life in the 90s when it was sampled by Yomanda on the Top Ten hit ‘Synth And Strings’. For the first time, this definitive 3CD collection gathers together Liquid Gold's album, 7”, 12”, instrumental versions, and remixes.
