Danny Elfman: Cello Concerto and Film Music

This world-premiere release unites elite classical artistry with Hollywood blockbuster prestige, bringing together internationally acclaimed cellist Gautier Capuçon and legendary composer Danny Elfman.

The album is centred around Elfman’s brand-new Cello Concerto, written specifically for Gautier through a uniquely collaborative, director-style creative process.

Anchoring the album’s crossover reach is a collection of fresh, virtuoso cello arrangements by pianist Jérôme Ducros, featuring Elfman’s most iconic film and television themes, including Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Simpsons, Spider-Man, and Good Will Hunting.

Elfman’s cello writing style results from a combination of his own tastes and Capuçon’s: “I like writing aggressively, but Gautier loves melody, so I’ve rooted myself around melodic instead of just rhythmic.
