Sophie Löw, alias SOPHIA BLENDA, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and frontwoman of the band CULK. Already on her first solo album, "Die Neue Heiterkeit" (2022), the Viennese artist fought against the paralyzing background noise of social constraints with melancholy chamber pop, set to music on the piano and poetically lyrically. SOPHIA BLENDA's music is a quiet but effective protest. With her new album, "Die Summe der Vereinzelung," she delivers a powerful musical manifesto against the trivialization of supposedly isolated cases of possible minorities. The artist focuses her attention where others look away: on the sum of all "isolated cases" that are not coincidences but expressions of a violent system. Sophie Löw's perspectives, both musically and content-wise, whether blazingly gloomy or delicately dark, whether performed with CULK or as SOPHIA BLENDA, are not always easy to grasp, but cleverly formulated and apt. The first single “Sad Summer Girl” is inspired by lyrics by Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, Phoebe Bridgers, Ethel Cain, Soko, Nico and Kate Bush.
