February Son

Oleander made their major-label breakthrough with February Son in 1999, a record that became a defining point in the Sacramento band’s nine-year run. It earned Gold certification and pushed them into the mainstream, with a high-profile slot at Woodstock ’99 sealing their place in late-’90s alternative rock.

It is easy to hear why this was the one that connected. February Son balances post-grunge force with sharp melodic hooks and emotionally direct songwriting, giving Oleander their most successful material. The single Why I’m Here reached a wide audience through Dawson’s Creek, while the band’s music also appeared in American Pie and Scary Movie.
