Further Design

James Ruskin marks 30 years of Blueprint with a remastered edition of Further Design, a key record from one of British techno’s most enduring voices. Through his DJ sets, productions and label, Ruskin helped define a stripped-back, functional and forward-thinking sound that has never drifted from underground ideals.

The track titles say plenty: Enter, Below and Indirect World lock into rolling low ends and razor-sharp sound design that still feels futuristic. The Divide adds spangled synths and crunchy percussion, while Time And Place opens into cosmic space and Unknown Destination folds liquid synths around hypnotic rhythms.

Work is another finely tuned piece, all meticulous percussion and shimmering bells. More than three decades on, Further Design still sounds vivid, evocative and built for movement.
