Get Yer Ba-Ba's Out

Dale Crover has long looked enough like Neil Young that Young cast him as the younger version of himself in the video for Harvest Moon. So Crover feels uniquely suited to cover the song here, opening his new EP Get Yer Ba-Ba’s Out.

His take on Harvest Moon crashes straight into The Bit, a classic from Melvins’ Stag. Crover wrote the guitar part, it’s in the same key, and it fits. The EP also includes acoustic versions of Doug Yuletide, Rings, Jane, and I Can’t Help You There, plus the brand-new title track.

While more intimate than the electric, guest-heavy Glossolalia, this is not stripped-back. Producer Toshi Kasai fills the space with slide guitar, Jew’s harp, bells and other idiophones, pushing further into the glam-damaged power pop Crover has explored since The Fickle Finger of Fate.
