When The Shires came together through a Facebook advert in 2013, there was barely a UK-born country scene to speak of. In just a few years, the duo helped change that, bringing country into the charts and connecting the genre with a new generation of listeners.
What still stands out is how naturally they do it. Rather than coming from Nashville, Tennessee, with all its familiar country signifiers, The Shires are very much rooted in Britain’s home counties, giving the sound a distinct identity while staying true to the heart of the music.
