Guitar Town

Released in 1986, Guitar Town is the debut album from American singer-songwriter Steve Earle. Blending country, rock, folk and roots music, the record introduced Earle as a sharp new voice in Americana, pairing vivid storytelling with a tough, road-worn sound.

Featuring songs such as “Guitar Town,” “Hillbilly Highway” and “Someday,” the album explores restless ambition, working-class life, love and the pull of the open road. Its combination of traditional country influences and rock ’n’ roll energy helped establish Earle’s distinctive style and made Guitar Town one of the defining country-rock releases of the 1980s.
