Hana Korea: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

This soundtrack marks the first new music from Jonas Bjerre since leaving Danish alt-rock band Mew. Written for the Korean-Danish film Hana Korea, a BIFF winner, it follows the challenges faced by a young emigre from North Korea trying to build a life in the South.

Bjerre’s score is beautiful and melancholic, carrying the film’s emotional weight with a light touch. The standout single, Hike to the Sun, lands as a bittersweet highlight and perfectly captures the reflective, quietly hopeful mood running through the soundtrack.

Fitting the film’s cross-cultural spirit, Hike to the Sun is a duet between Bjerre and South Korean musician Yeohee Kim. It is a breezy, sentimental track that brings the collaboration at the heart of Hana Korea into sharp, moving focus.
