19-track double CD package from obscure German death metal act Lemming Project, featuring their only two full-length albums originally released via Noise Records.
CD 1 features their 1991 debut studio album Extinction.
CD 2 features the follow up from 1992, Hate And Despise.
Formed in Dortmund in 1986, Lemming Project were an anomaly in the burgeoning death metal scene even back then. Their unconventional approach to songwriting, confrontational live shows, and socially aware lyrical content set them apart from the ‘sword and sorcery’ metal crowd.
Initially releasing a demo in 1990, the band were signed by Noise and joined their roster of rising metal bands including Helloween, Kreator and Running Wild. However, Lemming Project was completely at odds with the rest of the label’s acts, favouring a more underground approach.
Touring sporadically, and more at home playing squat gigs to open-minded fans from the crust, punk and hardcore scenes as well as metalheads, Lemming Project ultimately fell between the cracks and disappeared after the release of their second album.
Over the years, the band has found a cult appreciation among fans of Bolt Thrower, Prophecy Of Doom, Atrocity and Amebix.
This release features extensive liner notes from respected journalist Olivier Badin, featuring a rare and detailed new interview with vocalist Hendrik Vanegrow, as well as first hand recollections from Deathevokation vocalist and guitarist Gotz Vogelsang.
