Have No Fear, Dex Is Here

Dexter Gordon's longtime friend Nils Edstrom booked Dexter on all sorts of engagements - A recurring feature was Dexter Gordon's concerts at the neighbourhood pub Guldhatten in central Stockholm.

The atmosphere was always intimate and the musicians loved playing at Guldhatten, where the audience was always really close because the musicians stood among the diners' tables and played. Have No Fear, Dex is Hear is the first of Dexter's five Golden Hat performances, and it took place on August 11, 1972. The photographs that adorn the cover and inner bag were all taken on the legendary evening. At a Dexter Gordon seminar that took place in Stockholm just a couple of years ago, the album Have No Fear, Dex Is Hear was named the best posthumously released Dexter Gordon album on the market.
