Vegtable are Singapore’s only slowcore band, moving against a local scene built on math-rock, metal and emo. Inspired by 90s indie touchstones like Yo La Tengo, Red House Painters and Duster, they make music that feels spacious, strange and quietly reassuring.
Hit By A Car follows 2025’s Through The Motions and is the band’s first release on Leeds DIY label Field Work Recordings. The title comes from guitarist and vocalist Daniel Borces watching a former bassist slowly crash his bike into a car while using his phone, a moment defined more by awkwardness than impact.
Recorded at PK Records in Singapore’s red light district, the album plays with tension, stillness and unease. That’s Cool, Repetitions, Stay and Phone Calls show a band stripping things right back. Jeriel Lim and Shenen Khoo help keep it sparse, detached and beautifully unresolved.
